Ruth Mayer, born 1965, has been chair of American Studies at the English Department of Leibniz University Hanover since 2001. Her main research interests include Cultural Studies and Science Studies; she has recently focused on culture contact and globalization scenarios in literature and culture; another field of interest is American popular culture.
Within the Popular Seriality Research Unit, Ruth Mayer has directed the sub-project "Serial Figures and Media Change" (with Shane Denson) during the first funding period (2010-2013). During the second funding period (2013-2016), she is directing the sub-project "Serializing Mass Culture."
